Pipe replacement at glassworks

We replaced gas, oxygen and cooling pipes for Schott AG, a German multinational glass company. We also connected the pipes from the gas tank to the glass furnaces for the client.

Project preparation

The first phase contained preparing individual pieces of piping, pre-assembled on our premises for more efficient work at the client’s.

Course of execution

We brought work containers to the glassworks, in which welders began to weld pre-assembled pieces of pipes. The project management elaborated the drawings and phrases for the gas pipeline in detail.

This was followed by gradual delivery of the remaining material (pipes with dimensions of 25-250) to ensure a smooth replacement process.

Most of the welding work was done using the TIG 141 process. Pipes made of both low-alloy and high-alloy steels were installed in the interior of the glassworks, including copper pipes soldered using the 912 process.

Difficult conditions

A large part of the work took place at heights, as most of the pipes ran along bridged structures. It was extremely important to put great emphasis on occupational safety.

Inspection mechanisms

X-ray weld tests were carried out during pipe assembly.

Result and continued cooperation

The pipe replacement project continues after the end of the first phase. The pipes must be renewed due to the gas tank wear.
